2 Pak doctors fined SR84,000 for negligence in Makkah

MAKKAH : The Shariah Medical Committee in Makkah has fined two expatriate doctors a total of SR84,375, to be paid as blood money for their negligence that caused the death of an 8-year-old girl.
The two Pakistani doctors had worked at King Faisal Hospital in the city.
One of doctors, who worked in the emergency room, was fined SR56,250 for failing to properly evaluate the girl's condition and ask her parents about her medical history.
She was found guilty of administering the wrong medication to the girl who suffered from an

unspecified kidney ailment. The doctor also allowed the patient to leave the hospital without seeking the permission of her father.
The other doctor was fined SR28,125 as he failed to perform proper resuscitation of the patient and did not record the medicines he had administered.
The committee said the girl died of heart failure, as she was not given the right medicine.
The committee also fined the father of the patient SR28,125 for personally transferring his daughter from the emergency room to another hospital, and then returning her minutes later.
The father, Ibrahim Al-Juaid, has filed a complaint with the Board of Grievances and has refused to be held accountable.
He claimed that the doctors did not provide him with any assistance or an ambulance so he could transfer his daughter to another hospital.
He said medical staff and the hospital administration should be held accountable for his daughter’s death. News Agencies
