Seven successors for SC’s new chain of command


ISLAMABAD : Seven out of fourteen Supreme Court Judges line-up for the next Chief Justice of Paskistan, after CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry retires  on 13th Dec, 2013.
A survey bills Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani to the most likely successor as the next CJP; Justices, Nasir-ul- Mulk, Jawad .S. Khawaja , Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Saqib Nisar, Asif Saeed Khosa, would follow , while leaving out Justices, Khilji Arif Hussain, Sarmad Jalal Usman, Ameer Hani Muslim,

Ejaz Aslam Khan, Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry Muhammad Athar Saeed, and Azmat Saeed.
Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani hailing from Multan and considered to be closet associates of former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who even refused to be a part of Bench reviewing case against the former PM, would be taking over as CJP, until his retirement on 06th July 2014 making way for KPK’s Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk’s for a period of 12 months and 10 days.
After his retirement on 16 August 2015, paving way for Justice Awais. S. Khawaja‘s “only 23 days tenure”, ending on 09th September 2015.
Sindh-hailing Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali would take over as CJP for one year, 3 months and 21 days, retiring on 30th December 2016, making room for Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, retaining this post for 11 months and 3 days, ending 20th Dec 2019.
Justice Gulzar Ahmad would be the next CJP for 2 years, one month and 14 days retiring on 2022.
