ISLAMABAD, (news desk): Nomination papers for the presidential elections will be received by the election commission today (Wednesday).
Political parties both government and the opposition are set to field their candidates for the top slot of the country.
Pakistan Muslim League (N) has short listed three candidates for the election which include Sartaj Aziz‚ Mamnoon Hussain and Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui. However‚ the party leaders are engaged in
consultation with other allied political parties to finalize a consensus candidate.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after consultations will announce final name of the candidate of the party.
On the other hand‚ Pakistan Peoples Party has nominated Mian Raza Rabbani as its candidate for the office. Awami National Party has announced to support PPP candidate in the election.
Meanwhile‚ Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaaf has nominated retired Justice Wajhiuddin for the office.
Keeping in view the position of electoral college for the election of the president‚ it is expected that the nominee of PML (N) will emerge as the winner.
It is also expected that the PML (N) will pick its candidate for the presidency from Sindh as the province has no representation at top level political hierarchy at present.
