Govt in the loop on Altaf Hussain’s interrogation in UK: Interior Minister

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Thursday, that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain’s interrogation in reference to Imran Farooq murder case is being carried out according to UK laws.
Recently, on June 20, as part of their investigation on the Imran Farooq murder case, Scotland Yard had raided Hussain’s London house and some material was seized in relation to the murder case.
Talking to media here Ch Nisar said the matter was with London Police and Pakistan was being updated by the British authorities on the progress.
The interrogation is being carried out in London and

not in Pakistan but the Pakistani government is being kept informed, Chaudhry Nisar added.
He also expressed concern over the situation in Egypt and said that Egyptian people should be given a chance to choose their own government.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also  said drone attacks are not only violation of Pakistan's sovereignty but are resulting in collateral damage‚ which are not acceptable at any cost.
He said a clear message has been conveyed to US government that continuation of these attacks may lead to a direct stand-off between Pakistan and United States.
He said US has also been conveyed that this stand-off could have serious implication on its forces' withdrawal from Afghanistan and post withdrawal situation.
Chaudhry Nisar said government has decided to convene a meeting of leaders of major political parties possibly on 12th of this month to formulate a comprehensive National Security Policy to bring peace and overcome menace of terrorism.
He said Army Chief Gen. Kayani would also be invited to attend the meeting, and if needed, heads of intelligence bodies as well.
In reply to a question, Chaudhry Nisar said 3 task forces have been formed to look into the issues of national security‚ missing persons and return of Dr. Afia Siddiqi which will submit their reports within two weeks' time.
About former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, Chaudhry Nisar said the committee to probe against Musharraf has started its work under article 6 of the constitution. (News Agencies)
