'Tara' actress dedicates award to Nirbhaya

MUMBAI - Actress Rekha Rana is happy with the response her film, Tara — The journey Of Love And Passion, has evoked at various international film festivals.
She says, "While I won the best actress award at Jaipur and Nashik International Film Festivals, the film was awarded the best story and screenplay at the South Africa International Film Festival. Oscar winning producer Marc Baschet presented me with the award at Jaipur."
Tara, dedicated to Delhi gang-rape victim Nirbhaya, has found a supporter in Awnindra Pratap Pandey,

the friend who was with her on that fateful day. The film is about a woman surviving extreme ordeals.
Rekha says, "It is about women s empowerment and advocates how society needs to change its outlook towards women."
Having done theatre — she was associated with the late Dinesh Thakur s theatre group — Rekha wants to do meaningful roles in films. "My role in Tara was challenging. I want to do films that are performance-oriented," she sums up. (Showbiz Desk)
