Senate body demands to make Abbottabad Commission report public


ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Defence and defence production has decided to hold public hearing on Abbottabad incident and Abbottabad Commission Report (ACR) after Eid ul Fittar.
In camera meeting of the committee was held here Wednesday under its chairman Mushahid Hussain Syed in parliament house. 10 members of the committee attended the meeting. However finance minister Ishaq Dar and senator Muhammad Khan Sherani did not participate therein.
Former DG ISI Aashraf Jahangir Qazi gave detailed briefing to the participants of the meeting.
Talking to journalists’ later senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said committee had described leakage of ACR

as vital national issue and demanded of the government to make the report public besides presenting it in parliament to guard against recurrence of Abbottabad like incident in future.
The committee also demanded that 40-page confessional note given by Ashraf Jahangir Qazi be also made part of the report and the recommendations given therein be made part of  national policy, Mushahid  told the media men.
He stated that committee had decided to hold public hearing on matters of national importance including Abbotabad incident and ACR. Opinion of the experts with reference to these incidents will be heard in the public hearing. Committee will make public hearing report part of its report and will make it public.
He said committee had decided that any one institution be not alleged for Abbottabad incident nor it be  targeted as all the institutions are responsible to ensure  national security
He said that committee has paid tribute to women paratroopers of Pakistan army with reference to successful training and skill. (News Desk)
