Missing Persons Commission incompetent to handle cases: Justice Khawaja


ISLAMABAD, (News Agencies):  Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Friday, expressed dissatisfaction over the competency and effectiveness of the Missing Persons Commission regarding handling cases of missing persons.
A three member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja expressed these remarks while hearing case of missing persons. Justice Khawaja said that the Commission is not handling cases effectively; therefore, all cases are being heard at the Supreme Court.
The court ordered the family of imprisoned Fasih Ullah in Lakki Marwat to him. Justice Khawaja said that

police has powers but unfortunately they are not using their powers practically.
The court also directed to take action against the Inspector of an Intelligence Agency Amir and ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawalpindi to take stern action against the said Inspector.    
In a meeting on Thursday, Advocates General were advised to submit report of persons who are under arrest. During meeting the Defence Secretary told that there is no bar to visit those who are under arrest.
In this regard, the report was presented by Faisal Saiddiqui to the court on Friday. Justice Khilji Arif Hussain said that all issues of missing persons would be resolved if reasons of their arrest would be found or identified.
In his remarks, Justice Ijaz said that if institutions are allegedly involved in forcible arrest of persons then how is this possible that the officials of these institutions would allow anyone to meet and visit the arrested persons.
The court further adjourned the hearing till 9th July.
